One Month Anniversary!

It has been a little over a month since I first started this blogging adventure, Woowhoo!

When I started blogging at the end of March, I felt like a racehorse OUT of the gate. Wrote several posts, one right after the other in just a few days. Now I'm learning to pace myself and relax a bit more as to enjoy the blog writing. This article is actually the very first post back in March. But I think I buried it by posting too fast and furious :)

I am having so much fun meeting fellow animals lovers, photographers, writers, artists of every genre, and my brothers and sisters in Christ. You have been so encouraging to me and I hope, I can in return somehow encourage you too.

Thank You and may He continue to bless you and your creativity!!!

Creative Wobble Room
As an artist, the masterfully fashioned works of God captivate me. I observe His creation with all its complexity, simplicity and beauty, and I'm struck by the vast contrasts.

It reminds me that His handiwork points directly to His Character. I see His Majesty in the Alps and in the delicate form of the rose. His power stuns me with the vastness of the universe and the force of the sea. His tenderness brings tears to my eyes as I watch a wobbly puppy or a wren feeding her bare fledglings.

So many images appear in our minds as we contemplate Creation.
We all have favorites that we want to paint, sculpt or photograph. However, I am learning to appreciate Gods creative license. Now even the bizarre creatures fascinate me. Job tells us that God created the ostrich, which lacks wisdom, yet is faster on foot than a horse. Why would the Lord make such a creature - so dumb and yet really fast?
The oddness of it all sometimes evokes awe, wonder, sometimes fear, sometimes just thoughtfulness and more questions. Frankly Gods art can disturb us as well. Like a big hairy spider, poised in her web waiting for the in-flight dinner. Bugs that have large prismatic eyes, wiggly mouths and prickly legs that like to jump and cling. Snakes moving about quietly, eyes that don't shut to sleep, sleek , dangerous and mysterious.
Go into the depths of the ocean floors and we find creatures that look like they are straight out of a horror film!

Why did He create bats, or rats, or gnats?

What is there about the Lord's art that bothers you a bit, makes you question, forces you to think deeply about Him? Human art may at times faithfully do this, too. We were created in His likeness and have the capacity to produce images that inspire awe as well as stun us to silence and deep thought.

My goal as an artist is to enjoy, embrace, and reflect the Lord's creativity, even those aspects of it that cause me to question at times. I want spiritual and biblical discernment to shape my artistic expression. When I look at what the Lord has done in His grace and truth, I see that often His artwork has "creative wobble room."

His material is not all beautiful, at least not in the same ways we think of things being beautiful. But it reflects His craftsmanship and His infinite creativity. His creative works can produce in us a deep profound fear and wonder, incredible love and joy or more thought and contemplation. All our emotions are engaged and drawn back to His glory.

God didn't create with a cookie cutter, stamped out images. Neither do we. Just as God's craftsmanship is expressed through many mediums, different forms and design. He designed us and gives us the privilege to do that as well. I want to honor Him in that pursuit of creativity. Especially, since I see that vast creative examples of expression in my God's own masterpieces. Sola Deo Gloria.

(A very special Thank You, to a friend who kindly helped me with this Article)
