Little Jewels of the Spring

The spring time always brings a flurry of these little jewels back into our lives. They are so much fun to observe. They posture for territory, like acrobatic fighter jets in the sky. They sing at the top of their little lungs rain or shine every morning. Just before the sun sets, they must send a "memo" out that it's time to eat. It's like a feeding rush hour!!
I took this picture just as sun was peeking through the clouds, the rain looked like droplets of light. The hummingbirds took full advantage by sitting in the weeping Birch tree and did funny birdbath dances in the rain. It was so funny to watch!!!
I grabbed my mono-pod, camera and stood outside for quite a while before they would get close enough. I took a about 75 to 100 shots in just a few minutes of this ONE humming bird.
I am thinking, I definitely need to take a photography class this summer.
One picture out of 100??
Oh well, I am happy (for now) to get at least one good picture.

  4. That is a great picture! They are so beautiful. I put your blog on my blog list, but for some reason it is not working. I tried taking it off and putting it back up and it just will not bring me to your site. I am also not getting updates of your blog post. What do you think? It must be a blogger issue. The blog name is up. I just can't figure it out

  6. I cannot believe you caught that little bird in such a wonderful photo! What a talent you have, in addition to your fab-o paintings. Oh, and how jealous am I of your studio. Oh, to have space and not just a corner of a spare bedroom. Sigh.....
