A good friend of mine sent me an article a few days ago entitled "What if I didn't have a dog?" I had to laugh because my life and home has been filled with furry faces as long as I can remember! One of the paragraphs from the article (author unknown) said, "If I didn't have a dog, I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety. My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated. All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.I would have money, and no guilt to go on a real vacation. I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn Grand kids through college."
So True!! But this sounds more like a sterile museum instead of a home to me but then again I'm biased to these "canine grass-mine culprits."
Seriously, I think a home should be what makes you and your family spend time together and build healthy bonds. Make it a warm enjoyable home for your family and not with someone else's opinion in mind. Everyone is different. God is good at making variety, just look around at His art and creation!
You may have little kids running through house with their laughter filling the hallways as it fills your heart with joy? You may have teenagers and the sounds of the latest music trends vibrating through your houses walls? You may have cats that run your home? (laughing) For my husband and I, our furry friends have filled our home with warmth and laughter. These hot breathed slobber machines have been a wonderful gift to us from our creator. The dogs only fault really.....is they just don't live long enough.

I just recently decided to use some the photographs that I have taken through the years of our canine kids to start a series of cards and coffee mugs called "Lessons from a Dog." They are an artistic expression from my heart. Mostly, they are just lighthearted, sometimes sentimental lessons with an appreciation for the four legged friend. Each picture has a special meaning and memory. Hope you enjoy them. Take time to enjoy your family and what makes your house a home!!
In Memory of Zachariah........"Lessons from a Dog"
"Don't pretend to be something that you are not"

"Anybody that doesn't know what soap tastes like never washed a dog"

"It's okay to take naps and dream....."
"Pay attention and look people in the eyes"
"Take time to smell the flowers"
"Never be afraid to let someone know.....
that you really miss them"

"Say it with your eyes....I love you"
1.Run,romp and play daily.
2.Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
3.Be loyal.
4.Never pretend to be something you're not.
5.When someone is having a bad day,be silent, sit close by nuzzle them gently.
"Invite a friend to play and be silly"
"Take time to enjoy your friends"
