When I was a little girl my dad used to say to me, "you could look at a weed and find a reason to take a picture of it."
Hmmmm?....well, that creative fascination and curiosity resides within me still. As much as I love to photograph and I value obvious works of beauty, it is an artistic challenge to look beyond what I would normally pass by without a second glance or consideration. It might not be something I’d hang on my wall, but not all works of art or creative adventures were meant to hang on the wall or match my couch.
I remember once a few years back I heard someone of "faith" say on the radio, "people don't like to think about their art." (yikes! Sort of a broad generalization?) And then the person began to explain why we should always paint or create obvious works of beauty that we don't have to ever explain.
I think (yes, think) that even in Gods creation we see obvious works of beauty that don't need any explanation. It’s majestic and glorious. However, I also see some of His artwork that just baffles me and cause me to wonder with great curiosity as to……WHY? What was He trying to say or thinking when He made that? I happen to like mystery and I love that He didn't create things in a cookie cutter fashion!!!
Is it possible, just maybe He did that on purpose? Maybe He’d like us to think? Use some imagination even? It’s just a thought…..
Here are a few picture from an old barn my husband and I came across in our travels as well as some picture from one of my favorite places Taos,New Mexico.
Hope you all are having a great first day of summer.
Take some time to be creative!! Anni
Window from the old barn
HA....I thought my windows at home were dirty. ;)
Barn door. Going green and a little rusty.
The pictures from Taos,New Mexico were not taken with the good camera I have now. But I think they are still a fun example.

Old church doors in Taos,New Mexico
This old door in Taos had obvious beauty and a little mystery :)
Thank You Randy for showing Reggie and I your beloved Taos!!

I agree that a bit of thinking and mystery should be involved in our creativity. Even when a piece of art seems direct to one person, another person may have an entirely different perspective or interpretation.
